Martin Schlögl is a versatile musician based in Switzerland. His compositions, primarily written on the guitar, invite you to think and reflect in a lively and often humorous way and to sense the music on deeper levels. He has been a truth seeker for a long time and trying to lift curtain after curtain to get to this truth. And this automatically leads to a deep engagement with his inner life. The result is Martin’s conviction that true change can only come from within. That is where it has to start. And that is the source of all inspiration. If we travel this road we start to remember (again) who we truly are and not what others want us to believe we are. This is the idea of music to remember. Making music that helps us remembering who we truly are.
As a singer songwriter, he writes his lyrics in German, English and Spanish. And sometimes the sounds speak for themselves in form of purely acoustic compositions.
Martin is a classic career changer. He came to music as all of his previous attempts to keep up with a job for more than 2 years failed. He searched for and asked himself about the meaningfulness of what he was doing. And he wanted to do something that would give him pleasure for the next 100 years. He only found all this in music. It gave him the feeling that he was doing something meaningful and good. So he has been on the road with music as his vocation since 2012.
Trust is a major theme in his life and therefore also reflected in his music. With his songs he wants to inspire and motivate people to be courageous, to trust themselves more and to realize that the answer to every question can be found within themselves.
From 2013 to 2023, he was on his journey with the music project "Xumbalu – the play of music" https://www.xumbalu.de with a colorful collection of musical games. Whether concert, composition, body percussion workshop, singing together or sound bath - variety was the order of the day.
His album "Trust and Devotion" was released in 2020.
For more than 20 years, he has been supporting two Bolivian school projects by collecting donations for guitars and looking for opportunities for local teaching.
His favorite quote: "Don't ask what the world needs. Ask yourself what makes you come alive and do exactly that. Because what the world needs is more people who have come alive. (Howard Thurman)
